CRUISE DIRECTOR

The Cruise Director serves as the voice and face of the cruise and is required to be an effective Holland America Line brand ambassador.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Serves as the company’s brand ambassador and communicates pertinent information to guests as the voice and face of the cruise
  2. Is visible around the ship, and at the gangway. Continually interact with guests
  3. Hosts all major shows and events with the correct messaging, energy and enthusiasm in a way that is consistent with our brand
  4. Hosts parties, functions, local dignitary events and gangway farewells
  5. Arrives early and prepared for each performance. Is set up at least 15 minutes prior to all events and ready to greet guests
  6. Effectively promotes Holland America Line and our brand partners throughout the voyage
  7. Makes PA announcements according to brand standards
  8. Serves as mentor to all guest facing entertainment staff in the following areas; guest relations, brand messaging, microphone technique, stage presence and verbal communications
  9. Is a positive influence on departmental morale and finds opportunities to impact employee retention
  10. Conducts regular one-on-one meetings with Assistant Cruise Director (ACD) to discuss pertinent eGSS comments and ratings and develop action plans
  11. Conducts ACD evaluations in a timely and accurate manner. Uses company performance management processes to address and document any performance shortcomings
  12. Fosters a positive relationship with other departments, also serving as a guest champion in required intradepartmental meetings
  13. Provides industry leading customer service by socializing with guests, anticipating needs and exceeding expectations
  14. Positively represents Holland America Line both on and off the ship
  15. Internalizes and follows all corporate brand standards, Every Times (ETs), approved scripts and show rundowns
  16. Adheres to company uniform and grooming policies; looks professional at all times and sest the standard for the department
  17. Complies with all health, safety and environmental policies, also ensuring direct reports follow company policies
  18. Takes responsibility for company issued equipment
  19. Completes special projects as assigned by the Seattle entertainment department

ASSISTANT CRUISE DIRECTOR

The Assistant Cruise Director hosts and oversees engaging events and activities for our guests, which includes monitoring the equipment and spaces relating to events scheduled.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Successfully delivers the daily activities and event program
  2. Prepares to deliver great events. Rehearses performance to ensure that standards are being met or exceeded
  3. Gives notification that supplies are needed to maintain a par stock for all events, games and spaces
  4. Hosts engaging high profile daytime events, hosts or co-hosts select events in evening
  5. Monitors and evaluates guest comments and creates action plans to improve
  6. Fosters a positive working relationship with other departments
  7. Interacts with guests and serves as brand ambassador
  8. Fills in for the Cruise Director doing ship wide announcements and emceeing shows when necessary
  9. Maintains an accurate and precise inventory of all sports equipment, and keep sports lockers organized and clean
  10. Follows policies, approved scripts and show rundowns where provided
  11. Complies with all health, safety and environmental policies
  12. Attends functions, parties and events and socializes with guests
  13. Completes all reports thoroughly and in a timely manner
  14. Is an active participant and guest champion for all required intradepartmental meetings
  15. Other duties as assigned included and not limited to Health, Environmental, Safety and Security responsibilities

YOUTH PROGRAM COORDINATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Responsible for achievement of performance goals for the HAL Youth Programs including Kids (3-7); Tweens (8-12) and Teens (13-17).
  2. Implements and participates in all youth programming activities under the supervision of the Cruise Director and Youth Program Supervisor in Seattle.
  3. Coordinates “After Hours” group babysitting.
  4. Prepares and distributes the Youth Program Daily Programs for each age group.
  5. Maintains an inventory of all games, prizes and supplies for Youth Program.
  6. Trains, develops, evaluates and schedules Youth Program staff.
  7. Socializes, interacts and maintains high visibility among guests.
  8. Under the direction of the Cruise Director assists in all projects or duties necessary for the implementation of on-board programming including but not limited to entertainment related functions, activities and events.
  9. Other duties as assigned by Youth Program Supervisor, and Manager of Onboard Programming.
  10. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youths.
  11. Attends required abuse risk management training.
  12. Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youths.
  13. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  14. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
