More Flexibility to change plans

We have temporarily adjusted our cancellation policy to make it easier for you to cancel or change plans.

Book any cruise by June 30, 2021 (that departs through December 31, 2021) and you can cancel for any reason up to 30 days before departure and automatically receive a Future Cruise Credit. Additionally, you may cancel up to your sailing date if you test positive for COVID-19 and will also receive a Future Cruise Credit.

The Future Cruise Credit is calculated based on the cancellation fees retained by Holland America Line from our Cancellation Policy. Your Future Cruise Credit will be in the amount of non-refundable fees and the remainder will be refunded to back to you via your method of payment.

Flexible Cancellation

Eligible bookings meet the following criteria:

  1. For cruise bookings made by June 30, 2021
  2. Cruise embarking through December 31, 2021
  3. Booking cancelled no less than 30 days prior to embarkation date. Or within 30 days of embarkation if you test positive for COVID-19.

Within 30 days and up until your embarkation date, you may still receive a Future Cruise Credit if you test positive for COVID-19.

You will receive an email notification when your Future Cruise Credit is applied to your Mariner number.

COVID-19 Protection Program

This new element of the Cruise with Confidence program provides further peace of mind for guests within 30 days of embarkation through disembarkation for bookings made prior to June 30, 2021 and sailing on or before December 31, 2021. It is designed to assist guests who, as a result of being suspected of having COVID-19 or testing positive for COVID-19, may be unable to travel to embarkation, may be denied boarding, may be quarantined on board or disembarked early. The program outlined below will apply to the affected guests and their immediate travel party in the same stateroom.


  1. Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for 100% of the cancellation fee amount of non-refundable unused services, and a refund to the original form of payment for all taxes, fees, port expenses, and pre-paid onboard experiences and shore excursions purchased through the cruise line. Applicable, for guests and their immediate travel party in the same stateroom if any guest tests positive for COVID-19 within 30 days prior to embarkation.

On Board:

  1. FCC worth 100% of the per-day cruise fare for the missed days and a refundable credit to their onboard account for missed pre-paid onboard experiences and shore excursions purchased through cruise line, and for the refundable portion of taxes, fees, and port expenses for ports visited after disembarkation.
  2. Onboard COVID-related medical center visits and testing of suspected COVID-19 cases will be free of charge.


  1. Reimbursement of expenses for COVID-related medical care including during any medically required shoreside quarantine period for guests and their immediate travel party if any such guest(s) test positive for COVID-19 during their cruise. This includes air change fees in the case onward travel plans need to change.
  2. Any shoreside meals will be covered by a per-diem meal allowance as communicated by the family assistance coordinator upon disembarkation (no receipt retention is required).
  3. Dedicated Family Assistance Program liaison for care and logistical shoreside support until medically cleared to travel home.
  4. Assistance opening COVID-related insurance claims (for those who are eligible under their insurance policies or travel protection plans)



How to book with your Future Cruise Credit

Once your Future Cruise Credit has been issued to your account, you have 12 months from date of issue to book another cruise (departing on or before December 31, 2022) using the credit. Learn more about how to use your FCC or contact Holland America Line at:

Terms & Conditions

The Book with Confidence offer ("Offer") is available for Holland America Line cruises sailing on or before December 31, 2021 ("Eligible Cruise").  For new and existing bookings only made by June 30, 2021, for Holland America Line cruises sailing on or before December 31, 2021. Consumers can cancel up to 30 days before the Eligible Cruise’s departure for any reason and receive a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for any cancellation fees and a refund of additional funds received to the original payment method. Within 30 days, guests may cancel and receive the FCC  if they test positive for COVID-19. Book by June 30, 2021 to qualify for the FCC benefit in lieu of cancellation fees. Cruises through September 30, 2021 have a 60-day final payment window. Cruises sailing October 1, 2021 and later retain their published final payment date. Outside of payment 1, standard policies apply. The value of the FCC is subject to verification and will be determined by the actual non-refundable cancellation fees for the Eligible Cruise's booking, less any amount refunded in the form of original payment. Cancellation Protection Plan or Platinum Cancellation Protection Plan ("CPP"/"CPPP") premiums and reimbursed amounts shall not be included in the value of the FCC. Once verified and processed, the FCC will be applied to the consumer’s Mariner number. If consumer does not have a Mariner number, Holland America Line will create a Mariner number for the consumer. Consumer must use the FCC towards a future Holland America Line cruise booking prior to December 31, 2022 or it will be forfeited in its entirety. FCC is only valid on cruises sailing in 2021 - 2022. FCC may be subject to additional terms and conditions as provided by Holland America Line and may not be used for deposits, taxes, fees, or port expenses, or CPP/CPPP. The value of the FCC and the Offer are non-transferrable, are not redeemable for cash, and have no cash value. May not be combined with any other offers. Offer may be modified or withdrawn without prior notice.  Any promotion or offer available during or with the Eligible Cruise booking shall not apply to the subsequent booking. May be subject to additional terms and conditions.
