Rain Forest Garden Exploration & Alaska State Museum

Approximately 3 Hours 30 minutes
Easy Activity

Enjoy a panoramic drive through historic downtown Juneau as your guide tells you about this history of this tiny-mighty town that is now the Alaska state capital.

You'll visit Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure -- a delightful traverse through new-growth temperate rain forest via motorized cart. A picturesque scenic viewpoint offers sweeping views of the surrounding islands and mountains that make up the City & Borough of Juneau. Discover a section of old-growth rain forest that makes up the Tongass National Forest. Relax in the venue's pavilion and view the famous flower towers that are unique to the gardens.

En route back to town, take advantage of a scenic photo stop in the Juneau area to capture more of the city's lively streets and dramatic backdrop.

Your trip concludes with a visit to the newly remodeled Alaska State Museum. While walking through the museum you'll venture back to Southeast Alaska's early days, through the story of the various indigenous Native American tribes, Alaskan pioneers, the Russian era, and 'Seward's Folly' -- the United States' purchase of Alaska in 1867. The rare and rich exhibits tell the story of how a frontier wilderness evolved into the 49th State, and how that past influences life in Alaska today.
