Ship ship hooray \u2013 it\u2019s National Beer Day! To celebrate, we invite you to cast votes for the new design label of our upcoming brew made especially for this Alaska cruise<\/a> season. In collaboration with Pike Brewing \u2013 Seattle\u2019s oldest craft brewery \u2013 we\u2019ve created a new Killer Whale Pale Ale<\/em> with notes of honey, citrus and tropical fruits. It\u2019s a delicious seasonal beer that guests can enjoy as they soak up the sights of the Great Land.<\/p>\n<\/div> Check out our Facebook<\/a> and Instagram<\/a> posts to cast your votes for your favorite design by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, April 8. We\u2019ll update this post to share the winning artwork.<\/p>\n The artwork was created in collaboration with Native Artist Rico Worl<\/a>, who also designed the Native artwork featured on our menus on Alaska cruises.<\/p>\n \u201cWe wanted something that would really speak to the Pacific Northwest,\u201d said Drew Foulk, senior manager of beverage and dining operations and innovation. \u201cHaving worked with Rico in the past, we jumped at the chance to work with him again to create a truly amazing label for this beer.\u201d<\/p>\n Rico comes from a long line of artists and storytellers as a member of the Tlingit and Athabascan community. Every piece of artwork has special meaning. Though the design on the Pale Ale depicts a killer whale and seal, the art goes deeper than that.<\/p>\n \u201cThe design on the label represents the food chain in the Pacific Northwest,\u201d Rico said. \u201cThe figure on the top is the killer whale depicted with its distinctive dorsal fin and sharp teeth. Below the killer whale, the seal deftly maneuvers\u00a0out of the killer whale’s grasp by switching directions. Both are clever and witty creatures, and it was fun to envision the chase with multiple directions of movement as visual characteristics.\u201d<\/p>\n Guests can enjoy this special brew on all Alaska cruises with Holland America Line<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> Which design is your favorite?
