Today, gold rush enthusiasts can pan for gold, ply the river aboard a paddle-wheeler, or visit Dredge 4.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> The White Pass Railway was built in 1898 through treacherous mountain passes to the gold fields. Unfortunately, by the time the railroad was complete, the gold rush was over. You can ride this famed railroad on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollandamerica.com\/en_US\/shore-excursions\/SGY\/36901.html\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">White Pass shore excursion<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Speaking of gold, the beloved Yukon Gold Potato isn\u2019t from the Yukon. An Ontario-based researcher created the buttery beauty. He originally named it after the Yukon River and then his colleague added \u201cgold\u201d because of the potato\u2019s distinctive yellow hue.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Poet Robert W. Service lived in a two-room cabin in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollandamerica.com\/en_US\/ports\/dawson-yukon.html\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Dawson City<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in the early 1900s while writing some of his more well-known works. Eight main First Nation languages are spoken in the territory, each using multiple dialects.
