Former HAL Employee Wins Silver at Paralympics

World sit ski champion Josh Dueck — former HAL employee in Dawson City — represented Canada in the recent Paralympics where he took a silver medal in the men’s sitting slalom. Since a skiing accident left him paralyzed six years ago, Dueck has ascended to the top of the sit skiing world, including world champion in 2009 and defending Canadian champion.

When he’s not shredding the slopes, Dueck is the poster boy for Worksafe BC, earning a place on the newly unveiled workers memorial outside the spectacular Vancouver Convention Center. Alpine Canada nominated him as the Male Alpine Skier of the Year in Canada and the Breakthrough Athlete of the Year, and the Royal Bank of Canada introduced a limited edition VISA gift card featuring Dueck and other athletes.
