Commodore Perry Monument in Hakodate, Japan. I was speaking on the Volendam spring repositioning in 2009 and had just talked about the Commodore and his Black Ships a day or two before we had a port call on a perfect early spring day in Hokkaido. Had the pleasure to revisit the monument when speaking on the end of Amsterdam's 2010 Grand World Voyage on the way to Vancouver and Seattle. - Joe
