Mariner Julia Furston celebrated her 93rd birthday on board Westerdam this past month. Here is a picture of Julia with some of the Westerdam staff during the celebration. Tim Krabill is Westerdam’s human resources manager.
Following our afternoon of soccer (football) in Bermuda, Veendam hosted a crew barbeque and party for our crew as well as our Bermuda soccer opponents. The weather was just the tiniest bit rainy, but it didn’t stop us from having a great time.

As part of the celebration for Filipino Independence Day, Maasdam’s Filipino community organized a Maasdam Idol competition in the Show Lounge. Many participated, but there could only be one winner: Melanie Rose Valderama Corpuz, one of our beverage attendants. The audience had a great time and enjoyed all performances.
Zuiderdam’s deck team was recently honored with the Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS) Award for their weather observations in 2011.
