In the Spotlight: Johny Frederix, Dining Room Manager

Meet Statendam’s Dining Room Manager Johny Frederix:

I was born and grew up in Bali, Indonesia. I went to the Hotel Institute and majored in Food and Beverage Management in Bali. I worked in several 5-Star hotels before I joined Holland America Line. I went to work on a ship because I would like to see the world.

I have been working on Holland America Line ships since 1991. My first ship was ss Rotterdam where I started as a busboy. From there on I worked my way up to dining room steward, head steward and finally to my current position.

During my vacation I love to ride my Harley Davidson and cook for my family.


Bert van Mackelenbergh is Statendam’s hotel manager.

    Johny is the best dining room manager in the h/a fleet. I remember him as a dining room steward and knew that he would be successful. Always a pleasure to sail with him and want to thank him for making us feel welcome.
