‘Mariner’ Resdesigned as Glossy Lifestyle Mag

The premiere issue of HAL's new 'Mariner' magazine.

Holland America Line recently launched the newly redesigned “Mariner” magazine for Mariner Society members.

The premiere issue features “Writing the Book on Venice,” with articles by Erica Jong, Anne Rice, Francine Prose, Kenneth Turan and John Berendt on their favorite books and movies related to Venice. Other highlights include a feature on cliff divers in Mexico, Jamaica and Hawaii.

Each issue of “Mariner” also contains feature sections including “Onboard,” which highlights what’s new on Holland America ships; “Ports of Call” profiling select ports and shore excursions; “Mariner Values,” detailing special cruise opportunities for past guests, and “Now, Voyager,” a short destination article written by a professional travel journalist found on the last page of the publication.

Issues of the glossy magazine currently are en route to all ships and will be available to guests in the Explorations Café and the Neptune Lounge.

Are the magazines being mailed out. And when should we expect them? I’m especially looking forward to this issue as we are sailing on the Westerdam on April 14th to Venice.

My wife “Miok” was surprised to see her smiling face in MARINER while learning how to “Hula” on our latest cruise to Hawaii. On page 13 of the fall 2013 issue she is wearing her orange and white dress having the time of her life.

    Thanks,
    Jim Morrow…
