Dazzling New Video & Images Introduce Koningsdam, New Ship Debuts April 2016

The ms Koningsdam story continues to unfold in a new video revealing never-before-seen renderings and more details about Holland America Line’s newest ship, scheduled to set sail in Europe in April 2016. Guests can “come aboard” Koningsdam by viewing the video at hollandamerica.com.

Through sweeping flyover views and vibrant images, the fourth video in the Koningsdam series highlights spacious two-tier dining, lounge and pool areas as well as the ship’s innovative Music Walk and an abundance of culinary experiences shipboard venues and innovations, including family staterooms – a first for Holland America Line.

“A newbuild generates a lot of buzz, especially a new class of ship like Koningsdam, and the videos allow us to show off all of the ship’s exciting amenities and share our anticipation of its launch next year,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “Koningsdam offers the perfect balance between classic and contemporary, and the videos show our guests what a fantastic and beautiful ship it’s going to be.”

With the ship still under construction at Fincantieri’s shipyard at Marghera, Italy, new and enhanced renderings of several onboard areas provide a more comprehensive glimpse into the 2,650-guest newbuild.

Onboard entertainment will be taken to a new level with the energetic Music Walk area featuring all genres of music showcased in venues including Lincoln Center Stage offering chamber music nightly; Billboard Onboard where live musicians rock the crowd with chart-topping hits; and the popular B.B. King’s Blues Club in the Queen’s Lounge bringing the best of Memphis music to sea.

Take a dip in the pool and then grab some snacks at the two-tiered Lido Pool area featuring Gelato, serving homemade Italian ices and ice cream, popsicles, waffle cones, sundaes, floats, shakes and malts; New York Deli & Pizza, where guests can get a specialty sandwich or custom-made thin-crust pie in less than 10 minutes; and Dive-In with gourmet hamburgers, hot dogs and fries made to order.

At night in the new Lido Pool area, feature films are shown on an expansive outdoor movie screen with complimentary snacks served chairside.

Soar through the culinary offerings and see the striking décor that brings each venue’s personality to life — from the blue and white hues of the Grand Dutch Cafe to The Dining Room to the classic Pinnacle Grill. Viewers can see the reimagined Culinary Arts Center presented by Food & Wine magazine that will offer demonstrations and hands-on cooking classes during the day and transform into a dinner venue at night based on the popular farm-table movement. A new rendering of Sel de Mer, the intimate seafood brasserie offering a contemporary twist on timeless French classics, shows the bistro-like atmosphere and rich, colorful design.

The Crow’s Nest is a Holland America Line tradition and guest favorite, and the video shows new renderings of the venue with its sweeping panoramic views and cozy furnishings.

    Looks like a very modern design but keeps the Holland Americe tradition alive.I specially like the two tear pool deck. I have a couple of questions though, is there a library and where is the Ocean bar? We liked it so much we already booked a cruise on it.
