Since the inception of Holland America Line’s Mariner Society loyalty program, it has evolved from a recognition cocktail party to a comprehensive program with Star levels featuring some wonderful benefits. All Mariners (past guests of Holland America Line) are enrolled automatically and will receive benefits starting with their second cruise!
Holland America Line recently launched a NEW Mariner Early Booking Bonus appreciation program for our Mariner Society members. When Mariner Society members book a 2023 and beyond cruise within 90 days of a new season launch, you’ll receive onboard spending money on your cruise. This exclusive Early Booking Bonus is an ongoing benefit for our Mariner Society members and will be available for all destinations as they open.
Loyalty pins are awarded for 2-Star, 3-Star, 4-Star and 5-Star Mariners. In addition, we recognize our most loyal Mariners through the awarding of a special medallion — a Bronze Medallion for guests sailing with us for a total of 100 days, Silver Medallion for guests sailing with us for a total of 300 days, Gold Medallion for guests achieving 500 days, and our highest level Platinum Medallion for those guests who have joined us for 700 or more days. What else comes with our Mariner Society program? Read on to learn more about the benefits with each Star level.

Are you a member of our Mariner Society? What’s your favorite perk?
As 5 Star Mariners we appreciate all the perks extended to us, but especially the two complimentary dinners and are pleased that we are now able to choose the restaurant: the Pinnacle, Canaletto and Tamarind. Also, of course, complimentary laundry is a wonderful perk and we are always impressed by the quick and efficient way this is handled by all the HAL ships.
Moreover, the Mariner Society reps are always helpful and we appreciate all that Mr Bernhoft has done for this loyalty program.
I achieved that elusive Five Star Mariner status at the end of my last cruise! That was on the “Inaugural” cruise of the new Rotterdam for the 2021 Transatlantic Cruise. When do I get my Five Star pin? I am booked for a January cruise on the Nieuw Statendam.
You should get it on your January cruise. CONGRATULATIONS!!
While the loyalty program is good it could be much better. If you are on a Grand World Voyage of over 100 days you get the same benefit as someone on a seven day Caribbean or seven day Alaska. The difference between four star and five star is two dinners, $30 off an internet package of several hundred dollars and a day at the thermal spa–big whoop.
• Mariner Welcome Aboard lunch
• Mariner Brunch with complimentary sparkling wine … for all Mariners?
Would it, for one time only, be possible for the HAL Blog, the HAL website, the people answering the phone at Guest Services and the onboard personnel to be consistent in what they actually offer on board the ships? How can you be invited to an embarkation lunch between 12:00 and 13:00 when you are told to board at 15:00 ? COVID is simply not an excuse for poor communications.
As a current 4 star, some of these perks and regonititions are not necessarily given on long cruises. We tend to do longer cruises and we’re still missing 3 & 4 pins plus the perks that would go with them. We have never been to a welcome aboard lunch because no staff ever said anything or received a a ship photo. If you advertise these perks, how about make sure people get them.

????????????
We value your comment and are looking into the Mariner program amenities.
Four star mariner, 80 years old, planning to cruise as long as God permit me all of the suddenly my companion died last January.
I was disappointed and surprised to hear I have to pay for the double occupancy cabin.
Perks? This is one you can add to all the benefits you offer and have consideration to all of us, old people who desire to keep cruising
Some cabins can be designated to single cruisers without any modifications
Please look into it and give us that benefit
Thank u ??
Thank you for this suggestion, I will pass it along. I am sorry for your loss.
Finally have achieved 4-star rating at the completion of our last cruise! I’m looking forward to getting on another Holland cruise to the Caribbean this year and using the perks associated with the four stars!
I am a 4 Star and cruise on many lines but favor HAL. We used to receive two complimentary dinners, but that perk was drop. Why?
There used to be a pdf file that would list sailings available for complimentary guests sailing with 5 Star Mariners, is that still available, if so where can I find it.
Hi Robert, the complimentary dinner perk has been for five-star Mariners only, not four. At least since 2013. We do offer a 50% discount for four-star.
Question for the Navigator app…Do a husband and wife each need a Navigator account or will boarding passes, etc for the entire booking party be available if only one of the party has the app?
Please advise if I have a mariner number. Have booked a trip to Antarctica
Thanks.
Hi Hiroshi, you will need to call the Mariner desk, as we do not have the information at the blog: 1-800-547-9139
Both bookings show appear if you are in the same stateroom. Please confirm this prior to getting to the terminal to be sure.
Apologies, but we don’t have that at the blog. Please call the Mariner desk and they can provide fill details: 1-800-547-9139
Don’t understand why cruises historys are not available prior to 1985. Have cruising since 1977 but can’t get credit for them. Seen to have happened since Carnival came on board with Holland America. Currently l am a 3 star and taking a cruise to Hawaii on Oct.
As a 5 star mariner we always had priority boarding for the terminals and tenders etc but do we still have that benefit now over the passengers who pay for the benefits we earned and have a private dining room, priority for shore excursions etc etc or are we in back of the line now. ????
You still have those perks as a Five Star Mariner. However, those who pay for Club Orange may also have priority.
I am a 3 star mariner and my roommate, Joan, is a 4 star mariner. We enjoyed a 7 day cruise from San Diego to Vancouver (April 3-10, 2022). The Koningsdam was the first cruise ship to visit western Canada in 905 days!!! They were very happy to see us in Victoria and Vancouver.
However, there was no Mariner’s luncheon and we never received our tiles. We would like to know why and would at least like the tiles sent to us. Thank you.
Unfortunately due to supply chain issues we are having a tile shortage at the moment. Please contact guest relations to see about getting an additional tile on your next cruise: 800‐599‐8256 or guestrelations@hollandamerica.com.
As a 5 star Mariner and avid advocate for Holland America Line, I am distressed this evening to have been “hung up on” by the Guest Services agent who would not accept my information regarding HAL’s re booking of my “impacted” cruise. Speak to a third party. I am also a big supporter of travel agents, but I submitted my preference, I kept a screen print of my submission, and yet no one at HAL will condescend to speak to me directly. HAL has held my funds through its pause in service, has cancelled several bookings and now chooses to place my funds on an itinerary that I did not choose. Not impressed.
As the Mariners lunch no longer takes place when will we be presented with our silver medallions?
It will be sent to your stateroom, so you will get your silver. Congratulations!
I agree with the 5 stars Mariner about the benefit of the free dinners at the Pinnacle on long cruises. We have above 500 days of cruising and our coming world cruise will only allow us 2 free dinners.
Same as the 7 days cruiser. This is nonsense specially since we do not use spa, nor the internet, and no alcool. We should be able to choose some package of benefits on long cruises.
