The transformation of the Eurodam’s marshalling area was like holiday magic. With the help of every department on board, we were able to host a Weihnachtsmarkt (German Christmas Market) for our crew members on December 22nd.
The exceptionally-talented technical department turned our luggage bins into quaint light-filled huts which created a postcard-like picture of a true Weihnachtsmarkt. The very artistic team from the dining room added backdrops, and we had a team of decorators hard at work all day to make this transformation possible.
The market opened at 11:00pm and what a sight it was! The hard-working team from the kitchen prepared the most incredible edible delights with each hut serving a different treat. The contents of each hut consisted of a crepe station, olie bollen and berliner, bosche bol with chocolate, chile con carne with sour dough bread, chicken pot pie, sausages with brezeln and sauerkraut, apple pie with vanilla sauce, chow mein with chopsticks, doner Kebab, and gluehwine! The carpenters even made an incredible wooden stand to hold the beautifully artistic candied apples. Nobody went hungry at this event.
The casino brought in the crowds by setting up a blackjack tournament that lasted all evening. Our art and internet departments hosted a free crew raffle with prizes that included a Nintendo Wii, I-Pods, a PSP and a DSi. Special thanks to the entertainment department for setting up the Christmas music, which played in the background all night.
This event made for an absolutely incredible evening for our crew and could not have been done without the large team effort we had from everyone!
