Nieuw Amsterdam Hosts Open House Galley Lunch

During the crossing, Nieuw Amsterdam offered guests the option to pick up their own lunch from the galley so our passengers could see it during full operation. While some guests opted to actually pick up their lunch in the kitchen, other guests preferred to have their lunch served but came to view and take photographs of the innovative displays of carvings and the ginormous Swiss cheeseburger. The lunch was well received with many guests wondering if we would do the same event for dinner– to which Executive Chef Rob van Leeuwen replied, “Absolutely not!” with a smile.

We’ll be on the ship during a 14 day cruise starting Jan. 29, 2012. Would love to tour the kitchen and storage areas. Hope they do the cheeseburger on our cruise.

That is one of the most inviting items of any cruise, the FOOD. Everyone always raves about how good the food is. And because it is included in the price of the ticket and you can have as much as you want, it is outstandingfeature. I always look forward to meal times whenever I go on a cruise.

Loved the galley tour on recent Westerdam Panels Canal crossing. Would like to see it during operation, though

I was there and loved it! Got a picture of that giant cheeseburger and chocolate carvings they were already preparing for the Dessert Extravaganza. The chefs really take pride in their creations and the galley was so sparkling clean. Cruised HAL twice in Caribbean–this was my first TransAtlantic crossing. Can’t wait to go again!!
