Dive-In to National Cheeseburger Day with Holland America Line’s Gourmet Burgers

For those who may be unaware, September 18 marks National Cheeseburger Day! While there will always be debates as to who has the best burger, we’re going to be biased and say no one does it quite like Holland America Line’s Dive-In!

Located by the Lido Pool, Dive-In offers a complimentary menu of signature made-to-order beef burgers that are all served with Holland America Line’s secret and irresistible Dive-In Sauce, along wish a side of fries! From The Cannonball to The Freestyle, you can be sure there’s a burger to satisfy every craving. Read on below as we dive into these four incredibly delectable options!


Cannon Ball

The most popular. Served with Gouda cheese, applewood smoked bacon, sweet caramelized onions, topped with chop-chop lettuce and sliced tomato on a toasted brioche bun.

The Freestyle Burger

It’s not beef, but it’s the perfect vegetarian “burger” — a grilled portobella mushroom topped with cheddar and Gouda cheese, chop-chop lettuce, avocado, and sliced tomato on a toasted whole wheat bun.

What makes this popular venue even more enticing is that you don’t have to stand around waiting for your food. After placing your order you’ll be given a buzzer that allows you to lounge by the pool or soak in our relaxing hot tubs as you wait for your mouthwatering meal! And of course, don’t forget a side of fries!

    OMG… Reminiscing about my 14 days in Alaska this past May aboard the ms Amsterdam. The High Dive burgers (and dogs!) were incredible. Cooked fresh to order by happy crewmembers. These photos are killing me. In a good way. Well done, HAL! Can’t wait to back onboard.

    I love the veggie burger but I would like to know if the cheese is real or processed.

    Apologies for the delay! The cheese is sharp cheddar, smoked Dutch gouda and our cheese sauce is made with a grated sharp cheddar cheese. No processed cheese at Dive-In 🙂

    Has anyone tried to replicate the Dive-In sauce? My husband loved it. Others think it was just like Big Mac sauce, but neither of us agree.

    We have an amazing mushroom “burger” that is a Portobella – the Freestyle. It’s delicious (speaking from experience). You can ask for it without cheese or anything else that might contact dairy.
