Cruise Diary: Zaandam’s Fabulous Crew, Part 2

Guest Sharon Johnson and her husband cruised again with HAL, this time on Zaandam’s 21-Day Collectors’ Voyage to Mexico and Hawaii. Sharon chronicled their cruising experience for us on the blog.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find photos I had taken of the fabulous Front Desk staff especially of Grachel Singh who was extremely helpful and always had a fabulous smile for everyone. That young lady is an asset to HAL. And I have to mention the laundry staff who did such a fabulous job with our laundry in such a timely manner.

We look forward to sailing with this wonderful crew again.

Pinnacle Maitre 'd Jorn was always gracious and smiling when we checked in at the Pinnacle Grill Desk. He treated us like special guests. Jorn also is an excellent photographer as he took some fabulous photos of us. Jorn also was helpful with wheelchair patrons. It was his task to make sure that those who needed assistance in getting off the ship had the help that they needed. We were pleased with how he greeted and helped our friends. He treated them just like he did his Pinnacle Grill customers -- like special guests.

Ozgur Turnuldu, Zaandam Dining Room Supervisor, always had a warm greeting for us and was very kind and helpful. We look forward to sailing with him again. I told him that I thought the Dining Room was extremely busy--busier than I have ever seen it. And that I was very pleased with the service. He told me that for some reason, most of the passengers onboard preferred the early dining period. He told me that they were serving approximately 900 meals in two hours in the main dining room. Well done Zaandam Dining Room Stewards and Chefs!!!

Melvin, Dining Room Wine Steward, made us special gifts of origami birds set into the tops of bottle corks.  We enjoyed the service that Melvin gave us and our friends.

Wayan (our assistant dining room steward), Sharon and Zucero (our dining room steward). Zucero and Wayan gave us extremely good service on the Hawaiian portion of our cruise even with an extremely busy dining room. Zucero especially was concerned that we were pleased not only with his service but with the food. Despite being very busy, he made extra trips to the galley to make sure that the food was to our liking if he hadn't pre-tasted or inquired.

Al with Lowie (Louise) Fabian, beverage services, had a big smile and always greeted us by name whether we ordered a drink or not. She was definitely our favorite beverage attendant on the Zaandam. How could you not order a drink from such a lovely lady.
