Nancy Moen and Chuck Velte exchanged vows on board the Oosterdam March 7. Nancy will continue to update us on their wedding at sea and festivities throughout their voyage.
Even on a ship, emergencies happen. Chuck lost a temporary tooth cap Tuesday morning, so we were off to the Oosterdam medical center to see Dr. Williamson who located a dentist in the port city of Puerto Vallarta. After a short van ride to the office of Dr. Victor Coello, we met a ship server also getting help. Nofiar, who works in the Oosterdam’s Lido Restaurant, was suffering with an impacted tooth. Dr. Coello handled both emergencies and we headed back to the pier to re-board. Nofiar needed rest but Chuck and I boarded a catamaran to the isolated cove of Las Caletas for “Rhythms of the Night,” a torch-lit performance of ancient dance in a beach-side amphitheater. Conch shell sounds welcomed guests to the area. An unexpected highlight of the excursion was the sighting of a mother whale and her calf, who gave us an impromptu show. – Nancy
Editor’s Note: The wedding vow exchange in these posts is not a legal wedding but is a lovely, personal ceremony. Weddings can be arranged with Holland America Line but legal ceremonies must be performed in ports of call or on Half Moon Cay.
