Aboard Holland America ships, guests have many dining choices. The Pinnacle Grill is our favorite dining spot. We were pleased to see the manager Ferdinand again. We met him on one of our previous cruises aboard ms Rotterdam. During our two cruises on ms Rottterdam out of Rotterdam, he was also the manager. We still remember when he made pannekoeken and poffertjes, Dutch treats, for all the Dutch guests on board during those cruises.
The next day a barbecue was organized on the Lido deck. The ships’ bakery came out with Dutch appelflappen and oliebollen, a traditional Dutch food we eat on New Year’s eve. What a surprise! Every year a major Dutch newspaper tests the quality of the “oliebollen.” Over a hundred places that make them are tested and the results are published. Maybe this year they can come aboard Ryndam and test the ones the chef here makes. I’m sure they will be in the top 10 because they taste wonderful!
Each day on board ends with a lovely sunset.
Cornelis “Cees” Kloppenburg and his wife Yvon are reprising their role as cruise diarists, this time on board Ryndam. They will be sending in cruise diaries throughout the duration of their time on board. Enjoy!
