Cruise Diary: Sept. 23, Malaga, Spain

Aboard ms Rotterdam, calling at Malaga, Spain.

Today we were in Malaga, the well-known southern Spanish city.

From the terminal, a five-minute shuttle ride took us into the city centre where there was a nice, large shopping area. We took a hop-on/hop-off bus and toured Malaga.

Back on the ship there was a barbecue, and I was told that local food was brought on from shore and served as tapas (yes, we are in Spain) in combination with the barbecue food.

Local Spanish tapas and a barbecue brought many of the guests on deck.

In the theatre there were two shows by a trumpet player. Holland America Line works with the best artists, so we were curious. What a show! It was one hour of the best in trumpet playing, going through times from Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong to Herb Alpert. There was a standing ovation for this show.

Gary Guthman was the best trumpet player we have ever heard.

    Hi Cees,
How great to read your messages on this site! My mother-in-law is taking the same cruise as you are, and thanks to your blogs I get a very good idea of what she is doing and where she is going! Therefore many thanks! Maybe you can say hi to them from eindhoven! Their names are Annemieke and Bernadette (her sister) and they are staying in a veranda-suite if I’m correct. Enjoy your cruise and I look forward to your blogs 🙂
