Cruise Diary: Sept. 18, at Sea

Aboard ms Rotterdam, bound for Lisbon.

Today we had enough time to walk around the ship and meet the ever-friendly crew.

We had a chat with our Indonesian cabin stewards Hendrik and Martin.

We then went to the port plaque gallery and had a look. It’s always great to see where this ship has been during it’s Holland America Line voyages.

We met the Japanese guests on board who were having a tour around the ship with their tour guide.

There are activities going on all day. We watched the golfers playing with Niki.

It’s time for the cooking demonstration by the Pinnacle Grill chef and hosted by Party Planner Pat.

Tradition on Holland America Line is 3 p.m. tea time, and this time it’s the royal high tea. It’s there that we meet Florin Dragomir, assistant culinary operations manager, again.

We found our favorite Dutch coco macaroons and they tasted better than our bakery ashore.

There are many choices of tea.

Chef’s favorite (Dutch sauzijzen and ragout pasteitje).

In the evening it was formal night, and we decided to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary in the Pinnacle Grill. The manager of the Pinnacle Grill, Ferdinand don Griot, welcomed us. We had a fantastic dinner with all of the staff making our celebration one we will never forget.

Thanks to Ferdinand for the celebration cake for dessert.

Cees and Yvon Kloppenburg, Rotterdam to Athens on board ms Rotterdam.
