Yvon and Cees Kloppenburg are currently on a seven-day western Mediterranean cruise on board Ryndam. They will be staying on for a second HAL cruise right after they complete this one and will be chronicling their back-to-back cruising experience for us on the blog.
When we returned to Ryndam the Royal Dutch High Tea was waiting. Being Dutch, we did not want to miss this. It looks like the ship’s Indonesian and Philippine pastry chefs are making Dutch cookies even better tasting than in our own country! Our compliments to all of them. And although they wondered why this man with his camera wanted to take a picture, well the reason was all the fantastic pastries they make.
Did you know on every port of call one of the a/b crew members will raise the flag of the country Ryndam visits? It is something done on all ships all over the world. I took pictures of the occasion when we left the port of Palma de Mallorca. It always impresses me how it’s done with respect to the visited nation.
On the next blog we’ll show you some impressions of a day at sea. We as regular cruise holiday makers are always asked “Do you not get bored on the ship?” So the answer can be seen in the up coming pictures.
Thanks for posting the Dutch high tea photos! I’ve been to Amsterdam three times but never experienced Dutch high tea.
I was so busy writing about the day’s shore excursion, I missed Dutch high tea on my May 2012 HAL Alaska cruise. Next time I will take time to attend–your photos look great!
