While in Katakolon, Greece, we went on the Ancient Olympia & Museum excursion. We had a very nice drive to the Olympic site where we got a good view of the countryside and passed through the old and quaint village. The ruins at the Olympic site were much more impressive than we thought they would be having only looked at pictures. Our excursion guide was a historian and gave us great background information about the architecture and Greek art style. You can see in the photo how high some of the columns were, such as the Temple of Zeus. After the museum, we walked to the town, which was very close, and rested in an outdoor cafe where we had some Greek wine and a small meal of Greek salad and chicken slouvaki, yummy! We enjoyed watching the local people from our seat on the patio. — Janet
