Cruise Diary: Embarking on a Baltic Cruise

Journalist Pat Woods just cruised on Eurodam’s 10-night Baltic cruise and chronicled her journey for us. Enjoy!

When invited on a Norway Coastal Voyage a few years ago, I fell in love with the Scandinavian countries’ gorgeous scenery. After reviewing Holland American’s Baltic itinerary, I was hooked. In Copenhagen embarkation on the Eurodam went smoothly, and our luggage arrived promptly.

Dinner in the Pan-Asian Tamarind Restaurant ($15) was a visual and gastronomic treat. Each course was artistically prepared and elegantly presented at our sea-view table by attentive servers. At our server’s suggestion, husband Rob had the tender, juicy Wasabi-and-soy beef tenderloin, while I ordered pompano, a tasty white fish, baked in rice paper. Both were excellent choices perfectly prepared.

After dinner, we listened to classical music played by Adagio, a piano/violin duo, in the Explorers Lounge. Next we enjoyed a spirited performance by the talented Eurodam musicians, singers and dancers.

The grand finale was yet to come. Leaving the theater at 10:15 pm, everyone stopped to watch one of nature’s finest performances that lasted for more than 30 minutes. The western sky was filled with a glorious sunset unlike anything we had ever seen. That’s why I love to cruise and will continue to do so as long as I can.
