December 31, 2012:
We had the most amazing New Year’s Eve EVER! On some occasions I have been fortunate to travel around the world and celebrate New Year’s Eve in different exotic places. First with my parents and sister and later with my own family, and each New Year’s Eve has always been special to me. However, this New Year’s Eve on board the ms Veendam in Antarctica was an experience of a lifetime, simply incredible. We began with a great dinner in the Rotterdam dining room that included a nice wine and a cheese menu, and then the countdown party began with live music, champagne, entertainment, dancing and the opportunity to socialize with the crew and other guests on board. The complementary part was to be in Antarctica, where the sun never goes down, together with my wife and two sons, who probably never had imagined how incredible Antarctica is.

During this time of the year the most amazing colors light up the sky and makes you realize how precious and beautiful life really is and how lucky we are. The purpose of this trip for me was and still is, to reboot my soul and my mind and so far, including last night’s experience, it is working out very well.

After 11 days of cruising we met and spoke briefly to a few other guests, but at the party yesterday it seemed that we all had known each other for a longer time and today, only January 1, 2013, it seems like we have been traveling for months. Just before midnight on December 31st something special happened on board the ms Veendam in Antarctica and I’m sure every guest from more than 39 different countries and cultures represented on board will remember and never forget this very special evening.
