Cruise Diary: Cagliari, Italy

From the ship, a shuttle will take you to the entrance of the port. After walking for just a few minutes, you will find yourself in the main shopping center and close to the historic spots. While walking we met some very nice youngsters offering us a guided walking tour through the Old City. Next, a mini bus took us uphill where we saw the Old Medieval Tower.

Medieval Tower.

A great view of the city.

The walking tour started with a visit to the former palace, Palazzo Viceregio. From the outside you would not believe that inside there is so much to see. The inside has beautiful ceilings and this is where the council holds their meetings. We ended the tour at the square uphill with great views overlooking the city.

The uphill square where we ended our sight-seeing tour.

When we walked back to the ship we attended the farewell of the crew leaving the ship (not for us because we will stay on board after Barcelona). I shot a video which I will upload when I return home. Now it is time to dress up for the Captain’s Cocktail and another formal night. See you in our next destination of Palma de Majorca.

Back at the port.

Cornelis “Cees” Kloppenburg and his wife Yvon are reprising their role as cruise diarists, this time on board Ryndam. They will be sending in cruise diaries throughout the duration of their time on board. Enjoy!

Thanks for posting. We will be visiting Cagliari on the Maasdam next month. This gives us an idea of what to see in Cagliari if we have time after our shore excursion.
