Yvon and Cees Kloppenburg are currently on a back-to-back western Mediterranean cruise on board Ryndam. They will be chronicling their cruising experience for us on the blog.
Barcelona is a fascinating city which never sleeps. Although it is our fourth visit with Holland America, we have been there for short holidays at least 25 times. There is always something new to experience or to see. Ryndam was moored at the best terminal you can wish for, the one at the World Trade Center, walking distance from the city.
Close to the cruise terminal, in the harbor, a swimming marathon was going on. Groups of children and groups of elders jumped into the water to see who made the fastest return.
After watching the spectacle, we walked along Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas ending at a square where traditional dancing was being performed.
Does anybody recognize Yvon?
Returning to the ship we saw the crew busy loading luggage of new guests.
Everything on the ship is kept in top condition. New pool chairs arrived and were directly transported to the decks.
Ryndam is looking spic and span on the outside. Responsible for this is Boatswain James Paruntu. When we spoke to him he was inspecting paint work with the first officer.
On the aft deck, the guitar man was found playing swimming pool songs.
