Cruise Diary: All Good Things Must Come to an End

At sea

This is the last part of the Zaandam blogs from Cees and Yvon Kloppenburg. We are bound for San Diego with two sea days left on board. It’s time enough to say goodbye to the magnificent crew members of Zaandam. Of course it’s not possible to shake hands with them all, but from here I can write THANKS TO YOU ALL! We had the best time of our lives again on board a Holland America Line ship. Special thanks to Hotel Manager Firmin van Walle, Guest Relations Manager Iris Knubben and Captain Darin Bowland, and on shore John Primeau. Zaandam is a great ship to be on — Dutch soil at its best, the signature of excellence well worth the trip.

On Deck for the Cure.

The Valentine's Day Red and White Ball.

Our last breakfast with Michael — as always he’s the joker of the ship saying he burned our toast but believe me he serves the best.

Our cabin steward made his last towel animal for us: a monkey hanging on the curtains.

Our ever-friendly Belgium Hotel Manager Firmin van Walle with many of the crew.

A farewell and thanks to all who made our stay on board so fantastic!

Our wine steward Sonny (left), Guest Relations Manager Iris Knuppen and two members of her staff on stage.

To all readers of this blog, thanks for your time and we’re looking forward to our next Holland America Cruise Blog. And to all crew: may we meet again on one of the Holland America Line DAM SHIPS – in Dutch ” tot ziens.”
