Back in January on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise aboard Nieuw Statendam, the ship, along with the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise organizers and the California Honey Drops, held a fundraising event for the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie, Australia. The Koala Hospital purchased a 230-acre property to help restore the habitat areas for koalas and prevent their extinction or reduction due to the wildfires, and they are in need of support.
During the voyage, there were donation boxes for guests and crew, as well as an auction for an electric guitar.
When the cruise was over, a total of $18,640 was collected to help save these gorgeous creatures. For every $2,000 raised, an acre of land purchased by Koala Hospital will be named after the donor, so there will be 9 acres dedicated to this effort!
Thank you to all of of our guests and crew who donated, and to the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise organizers and the California Honey Drops for this incredible act of kindness.
