Maasdam recently geared up for a special On Deck for the Cure 5k walk celebrating the $1 million Holland America Line has raised for the cause. Numerous survivors participated in the walk and there was an excellent turnout of guests. Meanwhile the crew not only raised funds, but also spirits and laughter by dressing creatively in “pink.” A party with pink cake and drinks followed the walk.
In honor of the occasion, a DAMfit Crew Walk Contest was organized by Crew Purser Kateryna Bannikova and supported by Alex Escueta, crew doctor, and Sharonne Hanson, crew medical supervisor. The contest lasted two weeks, Sept. 14-28, with 58 participants walking more than 7 million steps together.
Each participant received a DAMFit pedometer and a DAMFit water bottle as a gift. The three winning teams were Security, Dining Room and Beverage, and they received cash prizes.
