In anticipation of the upcoming 10.10.10 event, which is a day recognized globally for those who wish to make positive action to help others, the Statendam staff are busy planning what we as a ship can do to help the local communities we visit on a daily basis. So far, I have purchased over 400 flip flops while the ship was docked in Juneau. All of the flip flops in the store were on sale for 50 cents per pair! The 400 new flip flops will be taken and donated to local orphanages and charities we visit during the two-week Panama Canal cruise.
More plans are currently in the works for what can be done to help others on 10.10.10! On the list are also: six new computers, mattresses, clothing and books.
