Captain’s Log: Feb. 24, Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

Aboard Zuiderdam

We just left Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. It was a nice day — no rain for a change — so the passengers were happy.

Today we got a chance to make a few more people happy. We are changing out all our crew mattresses, about 800 pieces, and found a good home for the old ones here in Costa Rica.

The area of Puerto Limon has frequent mudslides and recently a small earthquake. So our donated goods are more then welcome here.

This time we donated 200 mattresses and in the next cruises the rest will follow.

Captain Timmers is on the far left, Environmental Officer Ralph Bladen is in sunglasses, center, and our longtime blogging friend Hotel Manager Stan Kuppens can be seen towering over the crew in the background.
