Special thanks to Ryndam’s Future Cruise Consultants Neil and Natalia Reilly for this post and photos.
on October 25, Ryndam held a “World’s Largest Cruise Sale” celebration to cap the week-long sale. Our event took place in the afternoon and was billed as a celebration and charity auction. We invited our guests for coffee, tea, cake and ice cream along with little snacks. They walked under a pink balloon archway to remind them of our support of the On Deck for the Cure walk, then were greeted by numerous towel animals which were all over the showroom including two ‘apes’ in shirts, hats and pants.
The Showroom also was decorated by flags from the various countries we visit. We started the event with our highest four-star Mariners cutting the cake.
We had a quick presentation on future cruises and then guests were treated to a performance by the Indonesian crew, along with guest presenters speaking about their favorite destinations. Tito, one of our entertainers spoke of Norway and Alaska and also sang a song, along with a presentation from Jhanuary, one of our guest relations associates who spoke about Egypt and Cairo.
The main part of this presentation was a charity auction in support of one of our crew members, a stateroom steward who was sent home in September after discovering he has cancer. The money raised will support him and his family while he is away.
The following items were up for auction:
*Spa and Photo Package
*Officer shirt with stripes and personalized name tag
*Navigation chart signed by the Captain and bridge department
*Dutch and HAL flag signed by all senior officers and the Captain
*The Captain’s own world’s famous home-baked apple pie
We were able to raise $500 for our charity auction which is fantastic. Overall the guests had a great time and really enjoyed the celebration event.
