Video Captures the Energy of ‘Dancing With the Stars: At Sea’

Four of the Dancing with the Stars: At Sea theme cruises are getting ready to set sail to Alaska starting in June, as outlined in a recent post.

The high-energy, high-excitement voyages bring the hit ABC show to the stages of Holland America Line ships, featuring the professional dancers, celebrities and costumes worn by the stars while on television.

For those of you who missed the news, guest Allyse Ishino was crowned the line’s first “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea” Champion. She performed against 14 other guests (one from each ship in the fleet) in three rounds of competition to get to the finals where she performed in front of a judging panel that included “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancers Kym Johnson, Tristan MacManus and Sharna Burgess; dancer and choreographer Jaymz Tuaileva; and Cruise Director Eric Dowis.

This exciting video shows highlights from the Champions Cruise and gives an inside look into the work and preparation it takes to make it to the finals.

While not every cruise is a theme cruise, “Dancing with the Stars: at Sea” experiences are on all cruises and include complimentary dance lessons led by the ship’s resident professionals that were developed in collaboration with the show’s dancers and choreographers. Guests from all skill levels of dance who choose to take their lessons to the next step can enter a guest dance-off competition to win a chance to compete on the 2014 Champions Cruise aboard Westerdam’s Dec. 6 Caribbean sailing.

The guests in the photos below made it all the way to the final competition on their particular cruise, and some were even crowed the winner! One of these talented guests might even be chosen to compete on the Champions Cruise at the end of the year.

Someone said that a simple formula to happy life is: ‘Make money, love one woman and travel’.
Add to this list Dancing with the Stars at Sea and the level excitement that comes with it is exponantioally grander(heart races just writing this). For our 25th anniversary we did May 24 New England/Canada trip on ms Maasdam. Starting the day in Quebec City and finishing on the stage in the final show is truly unforgettable.

Kayley and Brittany were like two beautiful fairies, effortlessly floating above the stage while patient enough to provide excellent level of instruction. The entire cast is an amazing group of talented professionals. Jason kept everybody engaged and on their toes with clever jokes.

Cannot wait to travel with Holland America to other exciting places and hopefully doing a better job on the stage.
