Nieuw Amsterdam Art on Amsterdam

Like all Holland America Line ships, ms Amsterdam features some $2.5 million in museum-quality artwork. If you climb the forward staircase from Deck 3 to the Crow’s Nest, there are a few pieces that bring the history of Nieuw Amsterdam alive. With the latest Nieuw Amsterdam on the horizon, here’s a glimpse at the history.

Four Seasons: Personifications of winter, spring, summer and fall by Dutch artists Jan Floy and Leo Brum. The hammmer-shaped gilt bronze figures were created in 1938 for the then flagship of the fleet which sailed from 1938 to 1973. They were purchased from a private collector to display on Amsterdam.

On the new ms Nieuw Amsterdam, a new painting by Stephen Card will be depicted, of which I already received a photo which you can see on .
It shows the KINDERDYK at sea. Another painting will show the s.s. NIEUW AMSTERDAM I outbound from Plymouth in 1923.
