Brenton competed in the Dec. 12 finale with partner Whitney against Ian (ms Zuiderdam) and partner Melissa, and Matthew (ms Eurodam) and partner Leighann.

All three finalists danced a waltz choreographed by Sharna Burgess, and then they were able to select another dance style to perform for judges Kym Johnson, Artem Chigvintsev, Sharna and Pop Star Sabrina Bryan. Brenton chose a tango that Kym praised:

It was like fifty shades of fantastic! Your partnering skills are what impress me most. The footwork was flawless. You have it all!

Jason Venner, Holland America Line’s “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea” show producer and emcee, commented from the ship:

It was an EPIC finale that included a show lounge at 100 percent capacity over an hour before show time, a live broadcast to a standing-room only Queen’s Lounge, a ship-wide TV broadcast and enough confetti to convince anyone that we were announcing the Super Bowl champion!

When asked before the cruise where he would display the trophy if he won, Brenton said:

I would display the Mirrorball Trophy at the clinic where I work, as well as at my dance practice studio.

It’s sure to bring a lot of attention to wherever it’s displayed!

“Dancing with the Stars” Fashion Show
The “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea” fun included more than the finale. Guests were treated to a fashion show hosted by Carson and Kym that showed off actual costumes worn on “Dancing with the Stars.” Journalist Jason Leppert from Popular Cruising shared some fabulous photos from the show.

I am so looking forward to competing in Dancing with the Stars on my Cruise Noordam departing Vancouver 30th May, 2015. Can you please give me a little more information how the selection process goes.
    Many thanks

Hi Denise, we’re looking forward to having you! There are classes, and those who chose can go on the track to compete in the shipboard finals for that particular cruise. There are classes with routines, and then elimination rounds until the finalists are narrowed down. Good luck!

I thoroughly enjoyed placing 2nd on the Zandamm cruise ship August 15, 2015. The first place winner is from a state that is not eligible to participate in the finals. Will the judging team allow a second place winner to participate to fill her spot?

  • Julie

Mary Pat, all of the first-place winners from every Zaandam cruise this year are competing for that one spot on the Champions Cruise, so it’s not just the winner from your cruise. Therefore, it’s only first-place winner. But congrats on your second-place finish!
