Dr. Peter Carey, Holland America Line’s director of explorations, recently attended the 10th International Penguin Conference in Dunedin, New Zealand, to further our EXC Nature programming. The conference brings together experts in penguin biology, conservation and education from all over the world and is a great opportunity learn the latest news about these amazing seabirds.
Having a scientist like Dr. Carey help develop our Explorations Central programming reaffirms our commitment to making our onboard enrichment experiences as engaging, informative and immersive as possible. These conferences ensure our guests will have the latest information when they participate in EXC Nature, just one of the many Explorations Central elements that make exploring each port of call more vivid and meaningful. Through EXC Nature, in select regions guests study the natural world in all its beauty and complexity — from landscapes carved over millennia to animals that have made amazing adaptations to their environments.
While there, Dr. Carey addressed a group of early career scientists, providing some advice about non-traditional career paths — describing his background and history. He noted that a spirited question and answer session followed!
