The last time I wrote, Friso, my 2nd-in-command, was about to embark on a tender in Wellington harbour and participate in a ‘Blessing of the Boats’ ceremony. Guests on board Volendam got a special treat organized by the ship’s entertainment department — a Chinese New Year celebration! This is the year of the snake so the props and decorations were fitting to this theme. Here are some photos of the festive night!
During Maasdam’s call at Ilhabela, Brazil, Mr. Antonio Colluci, the mayor of the island, came aboard for an official plaque exchange ceremony. Jaime de Castro-van der Loo is Maasdam’s human resources manager.
