The World’s Largest Cruise Sale International Ball was held in the showroom on board Statendam, with many officers and guests dancing the night away. Officers were greeting our guests as they came in and they were welcomed with a special opening song, presented by some of the ships performers.

Oct. 5, 2002: The Pinnacle Grill, HAL’s alternative restaurant concept, is introduced on Statendam and Ryndam. The Pinnacle Grill features fresh seafood and an extensive, world-class wine list, and offers an elegant dining experience. During the next two years, the concept is expanded onto the rest of the ships.

Big congratulations to Bert van Mackelenbergh, Statendam’s hotel manager, who won the 2012 Glacier Bay Photo Competition! Bert’s winning shot was chosen from among hundreds of entries submitted to the photo competition which was held by the Glacier Bay National Park Service. Below is the winning photo. On August 16, 2012, the 67th Indonesian Independence Day celebrations kicked off with the flag hoisting ceremony on the bow of the ship while we were in Skagway, Alaska. The ship’s officers and crew members from Indonesia and other countries participated in this ceremony. Every two weeks during the Alaska season, Statendam plays against the Oosterdam soccer team in Juneau. It’s not about who wins the games, it’s all about friendship. Henry Bin Uyu Hidayat is Statendam’s human resources clerk.
