During Nieuw Amsterdam’s sea trials, one of the hundreds of system tests involved the Morse light and what the Dutch officers call the whistle, which most folks would call the ship’s horn. These are important safety mechanisms that are used in low-visibility conditions and during emergencies. Video by Tim Lodder, Nieuw Amsterdam navigation officer.
