As per a long standing tradition, the Indonesian Independence Day celebrations are surrounded with sporting activities. Many crew members and officers fully enjoy participating in those activities. We were in College Fjord this morning. It was so calm that the mountains and glaciers reflected in the water. Despite the early hour, many guests were outside enjoying themselves and the commentary by our Travel Guide Richard. Andre van Schoonhoven is Zaandam’s captain.

Today, June 28, we are celebrating Pam’s birthday. We organized a surprise for her in the front office with a birthday cake made up of chocolate cupcakes (the birthday girl loves chocolate!) and an apple cider toast.
Captain van Donselaar started his career 25 years ago with Holland America as a cadet on the ms Noordam. To commemorate the milestone, yesterday a chocolate cake (a favorite of Captain van Donselaar) was served on the bridge with the Deck Department.
