June 1, 2005: Holland America Line and Westmark Hotels, a subsidiary of HAL, break ground in Denali, Alaska, for a new lodge near Alaska’s Denali National Park. The 135-room lodge will service HAL’s CruiseTours, Gray Line of Alaska and independent guests. (The three-story property opened in May 2006.)
May 28, 2008: Zuiderdam completes the second phase of the Signature of Excellence enhancements. May 1996: HAL’s fleet grew to eight as ms Veendam IV entered service. The 55,451-ton, 1,627-passenger vessel embarked on its maiden voyage on May 15, 1996 after being christened by actress Debbie Reynolds who served as Godmother.
