Dec. 2, 2004: ms Westerdam sails on her inaugural Caribbean cruise, a three-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary. The 81,769-ton, 1,848-passenger vessel is the third in HAL’s history to bear the Westerdam name. The ship was christened on April 25, 2004, in Venice, Italy, by Dutch actress Renée Soutendijk.

Thursday was a busy day in San Diego with both Westerdam and Zuiderdam departing on two fabulous cruises. Westerdam was heading west toward Hawaii and the South Pacific, while Zuidersam was sailing through the Panama Canal.
