Holland America Line regularly collects valuable and reusable goods from the fleet for donation to charities serving those in need. On October 14, Statendam off-loaded 88 crew mattresses at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and donated them to the Food For The Poor organization. The mattresses were shipped to Haiti to help those who are still recovering from the January 2010 earthquake. On November 11, an additional 86 mattresses were off-loaded from Statendam at Port Everglades for shipment to Jamaica to support Food For The Poor’s initiatives there. On October 28, Statendam off-loaded 86 crew mattresses at the Port of San Diego and donated them to the San Diego Rescue Mission.
