Boy Scouts Explorer Troop Visit Ryndam

On Jan. 9, 2011, the ms Ryndam was fortunate enough to host youths from the Boy Scouts Explorer Troop. The event included a meal at the Pinnacle Grill, galley tour, backstage tour, ship tour and bridge tour. We were lucky enough to have the assistance of Cadet Daniel King as a guide with Executive Chef Karl Eller and sound technician Brian Achenbach sharing their knowledge for the afternoon. Captain Mark Rowden met with the group and wished them well.

The Explorer Troop is interested in pursuing careers in law enforcement. Their troop leader is Benjamen Cervetti, supervisory U.S. Customs and border protection officer. These young men and woman are learning how to take on these important responsibilities. The ages of this special troop range from 14 to 21 years of age. The tour was an educational one as well as fun, as CBP does searches on vessels to protect all of us from harm. I know I feel much safer knowing these fine men and women will be protecting our home from potential harm in the near future.
