During the call of the Oosterdam in Sitka on the 5th of August, the Oosterdam’s Deck Department donated two big boxes of medical first aid equipment, after replacing all the medical kits in the lifeboats and life rafts, to the Raptor Center in Sitka.
The Raptor Center in Sitka is an independent organization which fully depends on donations and volunteers to mainly treat the injured golden and bold eagles in southeast Alaska, and prepares them for their release into the wild again after sufficient recovery.
The donation consisted of the following materials:
* 68.2 pounds of bandages
* 83 rolls of bandage tape
* 55 stainless medical scissors
* Approximately 722 stainless safety pins
