Tasty Treats: Cocktail Recipes Inspired by Alaska

Holland America Line recently introduced four new cocktails to delight the senses on our Alaska cruises. Inspired by the beauty of Alaska, they feature something you don’t find every day in a glass near you: authentic Alaska glacier ice.

Harvested by state permit among floating glacier bergs in Prince William Sound and prepared to the highest standard under Alaskan authority, Holland America Line is the only cruise line serving glacier ice. This gives guests the unique experience of safely tasting real glacier ice from the waters of Alaska.

Though you’ll have to join us on board to enjoy glaciers up close, we’re happy to share the recipes of these four new additions to quench your thirst in the meantime. Enjoy!

Juneau Gin & Tonic

As pictured above, combine 1.5 oz of Juneauper Gin (produced in Juneau, Alaska) with 4.0 oz of Tonic in a Gin & Tonic glass. Garnish with a cucumber slice, lemon wheel, lime wheel and mint sprig. Though this cocktail – and the others below – are served with glacier ice on board, you can add some refreshing ice from a freezer near you to enjoy this tasty treat.

Alaska’s Blue Ice

Pour the ingredients below into a mixing tin with ice. Shake and strain into a Gin & Tonic glass with ice cube.


  • 1.5 oz     Flora di Cana Rum
  • 0.75 oz  Velvet Felernum
  • 0.25 oz  Blue Curacao
  • 2.0 oz    Pineapple Juice

Blue Iceberg

Pour all ingredients into a mixing tin with ice. Shake and strain into a Gin & Tonic glass with ice cube.


  • 1.0 oz     Juneauper Gin
  • 0.5 oz    Apricot Brandy
  • 0.5 oz    Blue Curacao
  • 0.25 oz  Fresh Lime Juice

Black & Blue

Pour 1.5 oz of Johnnie Walker Black or Jack Daniels Black Label in glass and serve over ice cube.
