Holland America Line is honoring its Master Chef and culinary consultant Rudi Sodamin, the creator of Sel de Mer aboard ms Koningsdam, by launching the French brasserie as a pop-up in the Pinnacle Grill and naming it Rudi’s Sel de Mer. Six ships in the fleet will feature the pop-up, including ms Eurodam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Noordam, ms Oosterdam, ms Westerdam and ms Zuiderdam.
Holland America Line and O, The Oprah Magazine announce an exclusive partnership that will unite the soul-stirring power of travel with O’s deep commitment to connection and personal growth. Oprah Winfrey; O The Oprah Magazine editor at large Gayle King; and others will join the inaugural O, The Oprah Magazine Share the Adventure Cruise setting sail to Alaska this July.
Holland America Line is unveiling an integrated communications program that promotes travel as a positive force in changing perspectives and inspiring shared humanity. The multimedia campaign invokes travel as having the “Power to Change the World” and will appear in broadcast advertising, social media, web-based media, sales initiatives and marketing collateral materials beginning in early January.
Holland America Line is amplifying its destination immersion experiences with the launch of Explorations Central, or EXC, as it will be called. The multifaceted EXC experience combines a wide array of indispensable travel resources with enrichment opportunities for guests that make their travel experience more engaging, vivid and meaningful.
In 2017, Holland America Line will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Half Moon Cay, its award-winning private island paradise in the Bahamas. To commemorate the event two decades in the making, the premium cruise line is introducing a new Lobster Shack eatery, as well as several island updates and upgrades that were in place for the first ship call in early November.

Holland America Line was presented with an Alyeska Award by the Alaska Tourism Industry Association for the cruise line’s new Denali Square complex in the heart of McKinley Chalet Resort. Bill Fletcher, Holland America Line’s director of Alaska sales, marketing and planning, accepted the award at ATIA’s annual banquet in Anchorage, Alaska.
Holland America Line President Orlando Ashford was honored by Bethune-Cookman University at the fourth annual Mary McLeod Bethune Legacy Awards Gala in Daytona Beach, Florida, Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2016. Ashford, who received the Leadership Award, was recognized for his dedication and continuous contribution to education and the community.
