Volendam Visits Nouméa, New Caledonia

On Oct. 17, Volendam spent an exciting day in Noumea, New Caledonia. We were welcomed by the drum band and traditional dancers. New Caledonia is one of the richest French colonies in the South Pacific region. These are cosmopolitan islands with various mixed cultures of Melanesian, Polynesian, Asian and European individuals living in harmony on this archipelago.

This beautiful island is considered one of the most expensive vacation destinations. We are all very lucky to be able to visit this amazing place. On Sunday, Volendam docked in the city’s center square. Unfortunately it was a holiday so most of the shops were closed except for the Casino supermarket and another traditional market that is open until noon. However, the souvenir shops, post office, money changer and various independent tour operators were all open are offering guests great locally made products and sight-seeing tours with famous stops through the old and new city of Noumea.
