South America Lookbook: Cruising to Chile, Argentina & the Falkland Islands

Cruising with Holland America Line for over 15 years, guest William Norton and his wife had have shared some incredible adventures. Luckily for us, William uses his love of photography to beautifully capture these amazing adventures and allows us to share them with you, our readers. If you’re looking for inspiration for you next cruise, a look through these photos is the perfect place to start.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the Holland America Line cruise on Zaandam to ports of call along the coasts of Chile, Argentina, and the Falkland Islands. I don’t believe that many Americans select Chile and Argentina as a destination for their vacation or for just a nice trip, and if that is true, it is very unfortunate, because I encountered some of the more beautiful and memorable sights of all my travels around the world. The scenery was magnificent.”— William

“In my opinion, the fjords along the southern coast of Chile rival those along the coast of Norway. Glaciers of various sizes are located all along the fjords, with one specific stretch know as Glacier Alley.” — William

IGUAZU FALLS, ARGENTINA

“The most impressive sights were the Iguazu Falls, which are just incredible and awe-inspiring. They constitute the largest waterfall system in the world, with 275 individual falls, some of which reach a height of 82 feet, the equivalent of an eight story building.” — William

THE FALKLAND ISLANDS

“Another very memorable part of the cruise was a visit to the Falkland Islands, which is comprised of two main islands and more than 750 small island and islets.” — William

“The highlight of any visit to the Falkland Islands is an opportunity to view up close and personal four different species of penguins. To reach Volunteer Point, where three of the species have their colonies.” — William

Lovely photos! We have enjoyed this cruise twice however never made it to the Falkland Islands. Once was due to windy weather at the Falklands. The other time the Captain opted to not go to The Falklands. For no known reason we went to a mainland port instead of the Falklands. We will take this cruise and try again someday soon.
