The ms Zuiderdam made her inaugural visit to the port of Corinto, Nicaragua, on Oct. 6, 2009. Local officials from the port, city and tourism board visited the ship, together with reporters and television crews, for a reception held in the Crow’s Nest. The reception was attended by Captain Turner and senior officers, the ship’s translator was Cynthia Corsine, assistant shorex manager.
Two plaques were presented to the Captain commemorating the visit. He, in turn, presented plaques from the Zuiderdam to the city of Corinto. After the reception, the officials were given a tour of the ship; and all agreed that the Zuiderdam was a beautiful ship.
